The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) a non-profit organization, opened its doors in May 2005. It was firstly built in 1995 by two individuals, Faridah Merican, and Joe Hasham. Its original name was The Actors Studio@Plaza Putra, privately owned and operated in Malaysia below Merdeka Square. Unfortunately, a flash flood in 2003 destroyed The Actors Studio’s underground complex entirely. However, the arts community needed a new home, hence, The Actors Studio, YTL Corporation, and Yayasan Budi Penyayang joined hands to establish the country’s first fully-integrated arts centre.
